LowerTown Arts District

LowerTown artists love living and creating art among other artists. They also love visitors to their galleries and studios! The streets are lined with beautiful Victorian homes and renovated storefronts, now housing creative space. No where else will you find such a collection of creativity in one neighborhood.
Visit the studios and galleries for a first-hand look at how artists create art. A great time to visit the LowerTown Arts District is on the second Saturday of the month. The Second Saturday Gallery Walk is an event where galleries and studios host extended hours from noon to 8 p.m. Plan your trip before you visit to make sure you are able to catch the artists in their studios doing printmaking, painting, pottery, metalsmithing, and a variety of other artistic disciplines. For more information on visiting the artists please call the Paducah Renaissance Alliance at 270.444.8649. Please pick up a visitors’ map at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, located at 128 Broadway, in historic downtown Paducah.
Winter Gallery/Studio Hours
Many of Paducah’s artists spend the first few months of the year focused on creating art and do not host winter hours. If you are planning a visit to Paducah’s LowerTown Arts District anytime from January through March please call 270.444.8649 for a list of galleries and studios that keep regular winter hours. Most galleries and studios will open by appointment in the winter. All galleries and studios open their doors back up from April through December.
Artists in Residence
There is a collaborative spirit and a true sense of community in the LowerTown Arts District. The artists frequently seek out opportunties to grow themselves artistically. One way that they continue to breath new life into Paducah’s art scene is through the Artist in Residence program. The program is sponsored by the Paducah Renaissance Alliance and the Paducah Arts Alliance.
Artists from across the world have come to Paducah’s LowerTown Arts District through this program, teaching workshops for artists, leading discussions on the creation of art to non-artists, and sometimes working on collaborative projects with the LowerTown artists. For more information on the program go to www.paducahartsalliance.com.
