National Quilt Museum: Kidz Day in the Arts
The National Quilt Museum is celebrating its 7th annual "Kidz Day in the Arts" on Saturday, August 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It's also "Community Day," the one day of the year everyone is admitted into the museum's galleries for free. Many activities reflect this year's theme, "The Spirit of the Olympics." There will be a variety of free indoor and outdoor activities. The inflatable games on the lawn will be back and you can join Library Lady, Retta Folsom and her Puppets for storytelling at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The Paducah Fire Department will be bringing a fire truck and its fire safety trailer to the event. The trailer simulates the conditions in a smoke-filled house. Paducah Fire Chief Steve Kyle says, "Children enjoy crawling through the trailer; however, the experience teaches children how to safely evacuate a home in the case of a fire." Members of the Paducah Police Department will be providing educational items for the children. Also, look for special appearances by one the department’s K-9 teams and one the Paducah Bomb Squad’s bomb robots as they provide interactive demonstrations. For a complete schedule of activities, go to www.QuiltMuseum.org/Kidz.
Thanks to our sponsors, you are invited to enjoy free ice cream from Paducah Bank's WOW Ice Cream Truck and a free lunch provided by Texas Roadhouse from 11:30 - 1:00 pm or while supplies last. Pepsi MidAmerica is providing free drinks and water.
